Biography
"I created blind insight because I'm losing my vision to retinitis pigmentosa. (Actually, I've got Usher Sydrome, a delightful double-whammy that means I'm also hard-of-hearing.) I like to think that the depth of my insights is somewhat related to my lack of outward sight. You may disagree, in which case there are plenty of other blogs out there for you to read.
In the world outside the blogosphere, I'm a public defender; after years in private practice I somehow managed to land my dream job. These days, I primarily handle habeas corpus cases at the district court and appellate stages. When asked to explain what habeas corpus means, I usually respond that it means I'm the Patron Saint of Lost Causes around my office. Fortunately, I have a high tolerance for losing (as long as I can win the lawyering contest every time). Blogging provides a handy forum for my rants, random musings, and assorted soapboxes, or at least a nice place to write something other than a legal brief."
